I am one of those people that cannot leave the house without food in my bag. I’m so guilty of that and believe or not, I am actually proud of it. You won’t believe how many times I’ve been on the road making amends when hunger attacks. Nowadays, you can find in many cafes protein balls, but these are usually made out of dates and that means a lot of sugars. So, I usually carry healthy snacks, such as nuts, fruits or my latest obsession these Peanut Maca Caramel Protein Balls.


These protein balls are so delicious with its nutty flavour thanks to maca powder. A superfood high in nutrients and minerals combined with healthy fats and protein, makes of these pretty balls the perfect snack on the go. They are easy to carry around as well. Just put them in a jar and you are good to go. What I love the most about these, is that there are no dates in the recipe which means they are completely sugar free.



Ingredients for Protein Balls


1/2 cup almond meal

2 heaped tbsp peanut butter

1 tbsp cacao butter, melted Β (if you don’t have you can use coconut oil, but trust me on this one)

1 tbsp maca (I use Bareblends)

2 tbsp vanilla protein powder ( I use Bareblends)

Cacao nibs as many as you want

pinch of Himalayan salt

*You could add a couple of teaspoons of rice malt syrup but see how you go for flavour. I find mine sweet enough with the protein.




Blend or combine all the above ingredients together until a firm dough is reached. Roll into balls and refrigerate until set.
